The Home and School committee is a group of keen, helpful parents that get together and organise fundraising events to help raise money for things our children need at school that helps their learning.
The first home and school committee was formed in 1953 with the first main fundraising being for the tennis court and swimming pool. The pool was built in 1959 for 600 pounds!
The Whale Run
One of our major annual fundraisers is the Kaikōura Whale Run, held in September each year. A half marathon run/walk, 10km run/walk and a 2km Marafun for kids, the event is held in and around the school grounds with runners and walkers enjoying the spectacular Mt Fyffe and Seaward Kaikōura mountain views. The idea was to create a fun event fundraiser that could encourage people to have a ‘get fit’ project over winter to feel great for the summer! Its a fun event for everyone!
The Kaikōura Whale Run won the 2018 Sports Event of the Year at the Mainpower North Canterbury Sports Awards.
