First met, already laughing.
Crazy, wild, untamed children laughing until their tummies hurt.
All eyes given to the special guest.
Suddenly balls flying everywhere.
Quick fast hand movements.
Laughter continues louder and louder.
The special guest concentrates trying not to make a mistake.
Left with strange but fascinating thoughts.
Kelly’s impressions of Mica the clown
Bike Wise Week & Mica the Clown
It is all go again this week at Kaikoura Suburban School.
Constable Frost has been terrific with building the confidence of all of our students. It is really exciting seeing the students progress so quickly with the level of skill and the confidence. Some of the students are applying 100% during a lesson and then in their own time during lunch and playtimes.
I have included some of the senior students from today as we were involved with lots of cool things.
To follow the biking we had a special visit from Mica the clown. He had us all giggling and certainly showing how to have FUN. He performed magic, juggling, making balloon animals, tricks with his dog and magic chewing gum. Thank you Mica for a whole hour of FUN.
What a wonderful day at Kaikoura Suburban School.
Wow what a stunning day we’ve had!
Friday 20 March had us involved with many characteristics that our Japanese families celebrate as part of their culture. Noriko had the students dressing up in kimonos, Yuko had the students making different creations using the art of origami, Tatsu and Miho played games with the children they used to play in Japan when they were primary school age and Kenji created little nibbles that consisted of a batter, with the addition of octopus and spring onion. The ‘batter’ was poured into this very fancy hot plate with little spaces to make the balls, then the octopus and spring onion sprinkled on top. Once the base was cooked Kenji used this little utensil to flip them over to cook on the other side. With the addition of a yummy vegetable based sauce the delicacy was complete. Miho, Noriko and Yuko cooked up some rice for the students to complete the experience by making their own rice balls wrapped with nori.
Swimming sports
Thursday 5 March the Year 4 – 6 students participated in the Kaikoura Inter-School Swimming Sports.
Once again the students had a successful and rewarding day after all the hard work they have been putting in at school during the swimming lessons the teachers have been running.
One of the photos shows the Suburban crew watching on and the other is one of our star swimmers flying through the water in her breaststroke race with another star swimmer closely behind.
Thank you to our ‘Mary’ for helping with the recording. Thank you to Jackie for supervising the students. Thank you to Larraine and the other parents and grandparents who came along to support the students with photography, transporting and cheering them on.
Another wonderful day. Thank you to our Fyffe Force Learners.
Fyffe Force Characters – Flora and Fauna
Wow! We are so lucky we have some very talented and patience people in our community that are happy to make our learners very happy and very successful.
Last Friday Rebecca, Kelly, Hannah and Neroli travelled to Patch of Country to spend the day with Marz to create our new Fyffe Force characters. The Patch of Country staff kindly let us use their teaching space and Marz spent the day with our senior girls. These characters were initially created by the students at school with the guidance and support from another generous Kaikoura local Sue J.
These characters will be a big part of our learning as role models, mascots and portraying the good things a Fyffe Force Learner believes in. To be Funfilled, Organised, Communicator, Respectful and show Excellence whenever possible.
Thank you Marz and Sue.
A huge thank you to those kind parents and students who attended the working bee we held on Sunday 22 February. It was very rewarding to achieve some of the issues that have been just out of reach for one but with many hands, the work was certainly achieved with ease.
Your help was much appreciated.
