2012 Year 6′s
The Fun Week Back In The Pukeko Class!!!!
The pukeko student’s have had a wonderful 1st week back at school!
We’ve been writing bio poems about ourselves, we really enjoyed that with lots of creativity. We’ve also been writing poems including personification which is a non human doing a person action eg. the tree waved in the cool breeze. For fitness we’ve been running around and then we’ve been taking our heart beats and pulse. After we had our data we made a stem and leaf graph with our resting pulse and our energetic pulse which was a challenge, but fun.
By fellow Pukekos Allie Miller and James Sutherland.
Great start team!
Shearwaters Thinkery is certainly going to be an exciting and dynamic place this year!
We started with a bang today – some great thinking and commitment to share and help each other succeed.
Thinkery
For all the things I hear and see
I have this thing called a memory.
It holds on fast to what I wish,
To anything quite usefullish,
And everything else, regrettably,
gets lost in my forgettory.
Welcome back to a year of Fun learning in 2012
The school year starts on Monday 30 January at 9am with a fun filled curriculum. We are looking forward to seeing the friendly faces of our Fyffe Force learners and all our new students for 2012.
The staff have just returned from a Palmerston North conference and are very enthusiastic with some great new ideas that will enhance and grow our learning.
Stationary lists are available at Kaikoura Paper Plus and uniforms at Postie Plus.
Any other enquiries please feel free to call us at school or come and see us.
We are all looking forward to another stunning year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Merry Christmas to all our families and to the wider community. Another year has passed which has left us valuing our school values that we believe make us life long learners. We warmly welcomed many friends from Christchurch and then another unique event, our school was closed due to snow.
We had many opportunities to celebrate throughout the year: 3 very successful inquiry units – technology, Planet Earth and Beyond and the third Globalisation, 5 fully trained teaching staff and 2 teacher aides to support and grow the learning of our children, cultural and sporting successes and a group of stunning students whose achievement levels continue to grow.
We look forward to 2012 continuing with the same staffing, getting started with introducing Multiple Intelligence and discovering ways to become a sustainable learner/person/athlete/thinker, discussion with Ministry of Education with options re new space and many cultural activities.
If any new families would like to contact the school please feel free to email or phone and leave a message.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Shearwaters Camp
This year Shearwaters class stayed at The Point Woolshed!
The team were incredible!
The class worked with The Hutton’s Shearwater Charitable Trust, Department of Conservation and Trees for Travellers. The weather was incredibly hot but that didn’t stop all the students walking miles and working hard.
Thank you so much to Peter and Gwenda for allowing us to use their amazing woolshed, Lindsay Rowe for spending time and knowledge with us, Brett and Dave for providing water, humour and knowledge, Sarah for providing such detailed knowledge of the past at Fyffe House and all of our amazing parents for making our camp so successful!
