The Fun Week Back In The Pukeko Class!!!!

February 2, 2012 - 10:34 am No Comments

The pukeko student’s have had a wonderful 1st week back at school!
We’ve been writing bio poems about ourselves, we really enjoyed that with lots of creativity. We’ve also been writing poems including personification which is a non human doing a person action eg. the tree waved in the cool breeze. For fitness we’ve been running around and then we’ve been taking our heart beats and pulse. After we had our data we made a stem and leaf graph with our resting pulse and our energetic pulse which was a challenge, but fun.

Shearwaters Camp

This year Shearwaters class stayed at The Point Woolshed!
The team were incredible!
The class worked with The Hutton’s Shearwater Charitable Trust, Department of Conservation and Trees for Travellers. The weather was incredibly hot but that didn’t stop all the students walking miles and working hard.
Thank you so much to Peter and Gwenda for allowing us to use their amazing woolshed, Lindsay Rowe for spending time and knowledge with us, Brett and Dave for providing water, humour and knowledge, Sarah for providing such detailed knowledge of the past at Fyffe House and all of our amazing parents for making our camp so successful!

Mistletoe Bay rocks!

December 10, 2011 - 10:03 am No Comments

Pukeko class had 3 magic days at Mistletoe Bay last week. The sun shone, the optimists scooted across the water, the kayaks glided passed the sites, sneakers pounded the walking tracks, children busy preparing yummy food, exploring the beach for crabs and critters, relaxing in our homely whares, camp fires on the beach, wharf jumping in to the depths of the sea and much more.
Thank you to Jonathan for supporting our camp, Richard de Hamel who came over from Nelson to talk about beach life and some games, the parents who were great always willingly to help and support the activities and mostly the children who were always E for excellent.

Kaikoura Suburban School 135 years old.

October 28, 2011 - 5:33 pm No Comments

The staff and students celebrated the special occasion of the school turning 135 years old with some of our grandparents, family and friends. The students had the opportunity to ask our visitors questions about school life from years gone by. We had a few ex students and one family that has had 4 generations go through the school.
The celebration was completed with cake and coffee.

Stacey, Cody, Shaydon joined by Daniel from KPS travelled to Blenheim on Monday 19 Sept to compete in Blenheim Zone Chess Championships.
The group played 7 games. Gathering the results showed that the team won BRONZE.
We are very proud of the team as a couple of them had only just started playing recently. Credit must go to Alistair McNaughton and Catherine McNaughton for coaching and teaching the team.
Well done.
