Sustaining You Display at Kaikoura District Library

Shearwater class have met their deadline to display their art and literacy learning for the entire Kaikoura community to enjoy and learn from.

The life size models, symbols books and images are on display for all to view from Thursday 17th – Wednesday 23rd May.

The students have also created a survey to find out if they have actually been effective in helping the community to become healthier.

Shearwaters had a little fun this week creating exaggerated poems about a hobby or interest of their own choice. We all had so much fun that we had to show our enthusiasm as a visual too. We hope you enjoy our slide show.

These are a couple of examples of our exaggerated poems.

Harry Potter – Bridget Smith
Harry Potter is very fierce.
He goes to Hogwarts which is the scariest place in the whole wide world.
He is not afraid of anything, he could kill a dragon!
Harry is so much stronger than Voldermort!

Judo – Oliver Burra
I went to a champions judo tournament and found lots and lots of giant people.
I fought everyone in seconds and easily won 99 302 trophies and a billion medals. I am the best in this huge galaxy!
I am the most famous person in this galaxy!!
Lots and lots of girls want to be my girlfriend, they think I am absolutely cool!
I can beat everyone, I could even destroy a hurricane, a tsunami and really bad earthquake shocks. But my legs did feel like old delicious jelly.
Nobody is as strong as me.
I am impressed with myself!

Shearwaters enjoyed a very artistic morning of choosing colour and movement to show the emotions they felt while listening to different styles of music. It was really interesting to watch and experience the expression that all the Shearwaters developed.

These birds are not behaving like Fyffe Force Learners. Shearwaters have identified that the birds would have been much more successful if the had used the Habits of Mind – Work with others and Stop & Think!
We think to make sure that we use push ups that make everyone feel good rather than put downs.
A nice comment or simple action like a smile makes us all feel great!
