We visited the Lee’s property on Friday and were able to interact with horses, guinea pigs, a pig, chooks and a cow. We watched Mrs Lee milk her goat. We found out that Mrs Lee gets about 2 litres of milk from her goat each milking. Harry showed us his riding skills and we got to meet Star Dust, a foal that was born on Christmas Eve 2011.

Senior Tramp to Mount Fyffe Hut

Posted April 9, 2012

On the last day of Term 1, 28 intrepid senior students completed their challenge to sustain themselves to Mount Fyffe Hut and back. The tramp completed the immersion for our Sustaining Me Inquiry. The students have learnt how to be physically, socially and emotionally healthy.
The tramp was certainly a challenge as the Mount Fyffe was covered in fog. The view from the top was missing but certainly not individual and team pride. Ormie the pig is a great inspiration for persistence – every member of the team got their well deserved ‘cookie!’

Maori Artifacts

Posted September 2, 2011

John Orchard visited school today to present a powerpoint and Maori artifacts to Pukeko and Shearwaters classes. The students found out about the lives of early settlers and had the opportunity to handle many weapons, tools, eggs and bones. John shared lots of interesting information and the students really enjoyed seeing a Moa’s foot and skull.
Thank you very much John!
