Term Two reflections
As you can see we have a new website, it is totally new CMS site which means we don’t have go through complicated ftp uploads to refresh it and we should be able to keep it more dynamic and fresh. This will give us the flexibility for us to communicate with our audience a lot more easily and efficiently.
Thank you to Andrew Spencer for his expertise so our school is providing the best for our families and the wider community.
Our Learning Celebration was once again a huge success with record numbers and outstanding performance from our students. I would like to personally thank Miss Roberts and Mrs Chambers for completing a successful term identifying and discovering the roles of leaders. Some of the highlights were:
Finding out that Mayor Kevin doesn’t like the traffic on Beach Road and the Honorable Helen Clark doesn’t like the long hours in her job?
and
We have an ex All Black living in our community
and
We had a kind family who have donated us a rabbit hutch
and
Mr Novis has once again brought a huge amount of satisfaction and enjoyment with the string weavers and the carrot and potato box.
and
Leading lessons in making dragons, fans, boats, grey matter, origami cranes, writing in Japanese and paper animals
and
We now know more about the Queen, Sir Edmund Hillary and the Maori King.
We have had two very successful lunch hours with one of our students organising pony rides with Fyffe View Horse Trek. Good on you for identifying a new idea.
The Arts and Crafts club is going well with weaving and brainstorming for new ideas for next term.
Our two successful student chefs, cooked and fed 38 customers at the Learning Celebration and have a profit over $100.00. This money will go towards purchasing the pets and ongoing costs.
Two girls are on to a good thing as they have recognised that their passion – welfare for the animals of Kaikoura – has caused for some educating in our community. They are still researching as to what is the best avenue for presenting their information.
As you can see we were entertained in many ways. Well done to you all.
Stage One of the bike track is beginning during the holidays so if you are visiting please make sure you are careful around the machinery.
Thanks to Tom Leathem for showing respect to our sports equipment. It is special to see past families still taking an interest in our school.
Have a safe and relaxing holiday with family and friends. If you are travelling away travel safely and for those who are remaining in Kaikoura, enjoy our beautiful environment at this time of the year.
If you have some spare time in the holidays, now is a good time to start focusing on the role you will play for our major fundraiser – half marathon, 10 km and 2 km walk/run.
Term 3 starts Monday 21 July, 2008.
Ka Kite, farewell
Michelle Spencer
